Second Rollers and Strollers Walk
Following on from our lovely walk in November introducing people to the accessible path in Stoke Park we went out again to explore more of it with Bristol Disability Equality Forum.
It was a beautiful March morning when we set out from the Hub at a gentle pace and enjoyed seeing historical landmarks and the views across Bristol. We explored some of the more accessible parts of the woods and fields to find some of the excellent sculptures dotted around the park, and learnt more about the nature and history of the park.
As it was a Wellbeing Walk we also talked about how nature - maybe in our own back gardens - gives us so much like relaxation and joy. Meeting other people on the walk is also important and we continued to get to know each other when we returned to the Hub and sat in the Hubbub cafe.
"I have lived locally for years but not explored these bits of the park as I was scared I would get lost"
"I want to walk regularly"
"I learned about the changes to the park and the wild garlic"
"The sculptures are wonderful"
"I learnt a new route around the park"
The next wellbeing walks will be Wednesday April 16th 10-11.30am going around the Stoke Park Sculpture trail, and a women only wellbeing walk on Wednesday 7th May 10-11.30am.
The next fully accessible walk will be 4th June 10 - 11.30 from the Hub - An accessible Wellbeing Walk around Lockleaze with our ecologist Eric from Really Wild Lockleaze to take a look at local rewilding projects, and to find and have a listen to some of the Field Stories sculptures that are around Lockleaze.
