WELLBEING WALKS
As part of the Lockleaze Wellbeing project, we have been leading guided gentle wellbeing walks across Lockleaze and surrounding areas. On these walks we explore the beauty of Lockleaze and also visit some of its hidden gems, such as the Lockleaze Nature Trail, Stoke Park, the Field Stories Sculpture Trail, Ebenezer Church’s Cafe and much more! Find upcoming walks below.
These walks are totally free to attend and open to all.
As the walks are outdoors we always recommend that people dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear when walking across Stoke Park.
The walks are much loved and the attendees find them really beneficial, allowing them to connect with others from their community whilst getting outdoors, and getting active in a gentle way.

Upcoming Walks:
Wednesday 16th April: Stoke Park Sculpture Trail
Explore Stoke Park with a gentle walk along the sculpture trail! The walk will start and end at the Hub, and refreshments are available afterwards at Hubbub Cafe. Bring your friends, cameras and walking shoes. This walk should be fairly accessible but there may be difficulties for some wheelchairs, especially depending on weather
Wednesday 7th May: Women Only Wellbeing
Join us to explore women’s wellbeing as we enjoy the art, wildlife and nature at Stoke Park. Remember to bring your friends, cameras and walking shoes. This walk will start and end at the Hub, with refreshments available at the end from Hubbub Cafe! This is a women only walk. As always, contact Gail at 0117 914 1129 or gail@lockleazent.co.uk for any information.
Wednesday 4th June: Really Wild Lockleaze and Field Stories
Join Gail and Lockleaze Community Ecologist Eric to visit resident rewilding projects in Lockleaze, as well as visiting the beautiful Field Stories sculptures, cocreated by artists and local young people and older residents. This walk will be wheelchair accessible.

Please read the write up below from one of our regular’s, Geoff, featuring previous walk leader Jonathan.
On 2nd November we arrived at Filton Ave Church café around 20 minutes after setting off, both soaked through however, received a very warm welcome by staff and visitors.
We hung up our wet coats on a nearby radiator and headed straight for the café counter which was brimming full with cakes and many other delicious treats. We both ordered hot drinks and chose our delicious snacks. Jonathan [previous walk leader] insisted on paying for the cakes and tea, what a gentleman.
We sat in the warm for a while then had a look around the church hall. It was fairly busy with some toddlers around and people of various ages and backgrounds.
Staff were in the kitchen making up jacket potatoes and salads for later that morning /some activities were taking place with lots of assistance from volunteers who took the trouble to talk to us too.
We later set back off to the hub using an alternative ,more rural, route.
I completed a feed back form stating how well the event went and thought it all to be very interesting.
So a big thankyou to all staff at the café /and to Jonathan for braving the elements.
p.s. My round on the tea and cakes next time Jonathan!
